This video contains a lot of unmarked jumpscares.

Until Dawn still stands to this day as the best game of its kind that I’ve ever played and I’m sure that most people who picture their own perfect playthrough of it are only going to care about two things, those being keeping everybody alive and picking up every collectable - which this video also covers - but I chose to go a little further than that. In addition to everyone surviving and all collectibles, I chose every option I could that would result in everybody’s character relationships and traits being raised as much as I could and even making sure that they sustained minimal injuries. While I for the most part tried to avoid things that didn't progress the game, there are the occasional things I did that only add some extra dialogue or a scene and it wasn't worth re-recording to leave those out, plus there are a few moments that I did want to showcase, such as Ashley clipping through the pillar in chapter 6.

It’s certainly true that I made a lot of debatable decisions compared to what other people might do given the title of this video, but in most cases the options I picked are what I believe to be the most favourable option based on my objectives here. For example, in chapter 1 you have the option to allow Matt to look through the binoculars or lie to him by saying that it’s broken. While the former option is the honest one and will likely be the one that most will pick, I felt like it was better to avoid the argument between Matt and Mike have later on that results in an unavoidable drop in their relationship status. There is also no way to win with whoever takes the flare gun; Matt will only stow it and can use it to save himself by picking Save Emily twice after the tower falls which results in more favourable stats between them, but since Emily won't have the flare gun later and will always be bitten later on then the drawback is that Ashley will panic at Emily's bite, causing their relationship to plummet. I was going for minimal drops rather than zero. Your mileage will certainly vary.

Since there are no real right or wrong answers during the sessions with The Analyst, I chose the options that made the game the most appealing to me. For example, picking between Men Worry Me or Women Worry Me on the first question at the end of chapter 1 only changes the appearance of the legs of the I Fear Heights picture which I think is a neat touch. This also lets you see what can affect gameplay that you yourself may not have picked so I figured I would leave them in. I also have no idea how significant of a change the Storms Scare Me option creates if you pick it; hopefully it isn’t too major because I've honestly never noticed a difference with it. I’ve even seen conflicting reports of what makes Dr. Hill’s appearance decay over the game and the general consensus is that it’s from the Zombies Scare Me option but it doesn’t seem to be universally agreed on.

I have edited out the “Previously on Until Dawn” segments between chapters because all they do is recap events and choices from earlier in the game; there’s no reason for me to include them here at all.

I went into the Status & Collectibles screen in the menu after finishing the game to show that I have indeed obtained everything after finishing this run, as well as playing “The Events of the Past” that unlocks in segments with each collected totem and only fully unlocks after collecting all totems which is visible in the video's list of chapters. Do not select "New Story" like I did if you're doing something that doesn't require a run from start to finish such as hunting for missing collectables, it will effectively wipe everything you've done as if you're on a fresh save file.

Last but not least, this was recorded on a regular PS4, so the game is stuck at 1080p 30 FPS rather than the 60 FPS that the PS5 can output for it. It’s the best I could do. ;~;

Massive thank you to devilishdemento over on GameFAQs for his absolutely excellent Until Dawn guide. Without it, this video would be nowhere near as needlessly overthough and may not even exist.
