PewDiePie Says NO To Donations, Voyboy Banned and Nickmercs Deletes EVERYTHING Because of DMCA Claim
PewDiePie will no longer accept donations while streaming after Pokimane said she would put a donation limit in place, and does this mean that large streamers will say no to donations in the future? Plus, Voyboy treated like Dr. Disrespect by Twitch but guesses DMCA had a role to play, and Nickmercs is FORCED to delete everything on his channel so he doesn’t suffer the same fate. And, Twitch restricts users who use an ad-blocker to a low resolution stream and tells users who are upset to deal with it.
PewDiePie Says No To Donations On Stream
Donating money to rich people is pretty weird, right? Like, people who already have tons and tons of money getting money given to them just to acknowledge people while doing something live on a stream is also pretty weird. But the tide on what donations are seems to be turning at a fairly quick pace. After Pokimane set a donation limit earlier this week, allowing viewers to only give her $5, PewDiePie has come out during a live stream and told his viewers that he just doesn’t want their money at all. While playing Hades on Thursday, a viewer asked him how they would be able to donate and PewDiePie responded pretty bluntly; you can’t!
Voyboy Banned on Twitch, Nickmercs Forced to Delete Everything Due to DMCA
Voyboy, a very popular ex League of Legends pro player and streamer, was just banned yesterday, and Voyboy himself claims that he doesn't know the reason behind this ban, a matter further complicated by the fact that Twitch never publically reveals the reasons for bans. This rings fairly true, as we witnessed the same experience Voyboy is going through when Dr. Disrespect was removed from the platform. The difference? Voyboy suspects that DMCA claims had something to do with his removal. What’s super crazy is that Voyboy is known for being a fairly tame streamer, one who has stayed out of trouble when it comes to being on Twitch. But, prior to his removal, he did admit on stream that he had received a DMCA complaint, and if he delayed deleting all of his offending content, that could have been the final nail in the coffin for his channel.
Twitch restricts ad-blockers to lower resolutions
What is going on with all of the ads on Twitch lately? That seems to be the sentiment most people are sharing lately, ever since Twitch changed how most ad blockers interact with their website. Some rumors have even been pushed that Twitch is now showing MORE ads to people who are using ad blockers. It seems to be an internal push from Twitch themselves to really make sure that streamers and viewers alike are not circumventing the ads that the platform runs, even with the introduction of forced mid-roll ads during live streams. But now, Twitch is fighting back with uBlock users reporting that they have been restricted resolutions as low as 360p.
