This is a fairly long video and I was considering uploading this in two parts, but after spending a few hours editing it, I decided against it as no matter where I made the cut the impact of the video would have been lost, therefore you have the raw data, no editing or cuts, so if you see mistakes its just my natural self. This video continues where I left off and looks at completing the front 9 of my new course, I almost get there.
In this tutorial, I cover bunker placement and where to strategically place them, also finding the ideal landing zone for the player, this is something that a lot new designers forget to do, especially those who have never played the real game of golf. I also look at natural obstructions to make the players think. Although some real courses are fairly open and you have a direct line of sight to the green, some are more challenging and place obstructions (Trees) for you to negotiate with. Don't be afraid to do this as it distinguishes your course from others, but be subtle about it, if you know what I mean. For some reason the punch shot was removed from this game, maybe its because the shot mechanics have changed and you can now alter the angle of attack, I don’t know I will need to keep experimenting and trying it out on the virtual driving range.
