The First Phantasy Star is a game that was released in December of 1987 for the Sega Master System being the game that started one of the longest running Rpg series.
The first game has by far the simplest gameplay of the series with a limited number of options for combat and often simple monsters who rarely have more than a single ability if they even have one at all this paired with the inability to chose which member of a group recives a single target attack gives it an emphasis on preparation and use of recources ( HP, MP, Items) and if you try and play it like a modem Rpg it can be extremely grindy early on as at the start even the weakest mob can be dangrous and anything else is just out of the question.
to help out with the feel of the early game I would recommend grinding on Sworm the weakest enemy in the game untill you can afford the IRN. SWD for 75 meseta as it will allow you to kill the scorpions and only grabbing the LTH. SLD after that, you'll need 200 meseta to buy the secret item alongside 100 for the passport putting the better equipment just out of range for the moment but after that you can head to the space port to reach a new planet though the only thing you can do is grab a new party member if you grabbed the pot from the starting town after that get them to lv2, upgrade to the TIT.SWD when you can afford to before heading into the cave just south of the starting area to grab your last party member.

just remember when playing this first bit that the monsters in the wooded parts are a lot stronger than you can handle at the moment just stick to the grass and relax, once you have your third-party member the first great grinding spot isn't too far off.
