It sounds like criticism but I like the weird cousin, they're fun and freaky. As a many, many-hours veteran of UFO defense, Xenonauts, modern XCOM 1 and 2, and a bunch of others, I approve of Phoenix Point. No comment about the DLCs though, I'm doing vanilla so far.

Phoenix Point is actually made by the creator of the original X-COM (not the modern, hyphen-free remake, XCOM). Fight tactical battles on procedural maps against ever increasing threats and maybe too many factions, and explore the world node by node by node by node...
