Just when it looks like the trial is over, Ema returns to offer help by drawing attention to the bloody handprint on Detective Gumshoe's locker. Phoenix realizes that the handprint shouldn't exist because the Blue Badger was in front of Gumshoe's locker, effectively blocking it, when Meekins and Marshall were in the room.

Ergo, the bloody handprint must have been left on the locker *before* the Blue Badger was placed in the room, ergo, blood was spilled twice in the evidence room. Phoenix claims that the first time blood was spilled was during Bruce Goodman's murder.
