Photographing Anime Figures: Buy A 50mm or 105mm Macro Lens?
One of the most commonly asked questions - regardless of whether you are a toy photographer or not: Which macro lens should I buy? Do I go for the shorter focal length ones around +/- 50mm, or go for the more traditional +/- 100mm longer focal length range?
To me, there are two major groups of macro lenses - short and long focal length. The short ones are usually between 40mm to 70mm, while the long ones are usually from 90mm to 105mm, while even 150mm, 180mm macros also do exist. There is also a niche short focal length macro at 15mm to 24mm range which i will briefly explain what are their uses. Which range should be buying is highly dependent on your photography style. Being a toy photography and review channel, this guideline on how to choose your next macro lens will be based on the perspective of choosing the right macro lens for toy and figure photography.
