Meddling Martians AR is an iOS augmented reality game that has a tangible/physical gameplay experience, unlike many other AR games where the only interaction that I had with the virtual content was through the touchscreen user interface. Although there wasn't haptic feedback, the fact that I was holding the device with my two hand, the the virtual bucket being attached to the front of the camera view, the sound effects and the visual effects when the ball intersected with the virtual bucket felt close to physical as I have ever gotten in an AR game previously, aside for games played using the Merge Cube of course.

It's a fun action game where you need to capture bombs in mid-air using a virtual bucket attached to your iPhone or iPad. You feel in the middle of the action, as a main actor in it, rahter than interacting with the game externally. In that way, it delivered a more immersive experience with a stronger sense of persence and having your body being the controller in the game (I defeintelly lost quite a few calories playing this game0.

I've written a full review of the game on my blog previously, so if you want to read more about it, visit my blog here:

I definitely think that this game is worth checking out for both developers and players alike. It was one of those game that inspired me with some ideas for AR/MR games that I've shared with the AR developer's community on my social channels.

Of course, the feeling of something physical (tangible) will further be enhanced using haptic feedback type of accessories that can simulate physical interaction with virtual objects, whether it's weight, force feedback, feeling of texture, etc.
