106Descripción (ES): El Concierto para piano No. 2, Op. 18 en do menor, es una pieza compuesta para piano y orquesta por Serguéi Rajmáninov entre el otoño de 1900 y abril de 1901. La obra al completo fue estrenada, también con el compositor como solista, el 27 de octubre de 1901, con su primo Aleksandr Ziloti dirigiendo. Esta obra es una de sus piezas más recordadas, y le supuso un sólido reconocimiento y fama como compositor de conciertos.
Esta pieza se estructura en tres movimientos:
I. Moderato
El movimiento inicial empieza con una serie de acordes en el piano como si de toques de campana se trataran que crean tensión, finalmente llegando a un punto culminante en la introducción del primer tema. En esta primera sección, la orquesta interpreta una melodía de carácter ruso mientras que el piano realiza un acompañamiento consistente en arpegios. Tras el gran primer tema, le sigue una rápida transición hasta que se presenta el segundo tema en mi bemol mayor, mucho más lírico.
II. Adagio sostenuto
El segundo movimiento empieza con una serie de acordes lentos con las cuerdas que modulan del do menor del anterior movimiento a mi mayor. El piano entra tocando una simple figura arpegiada. El tema es introducido por la flauta y luego pasa entre el piano y otros solistas, antes de que la música acelere a un corto clímax centrado sobre el piano. El motivo original se repite, y la música parece extinguirse, acabando con tan sólo el solista.
III. Allegro scherzando
El último movimiento empieza con una pequeña introducción orquestal que modula de mi mayor a do menor, antes de que el piano solo lo conduzca hacia el agitado primer tema. La excitación muere y el oboe y las violas introducen un tema de gran lirismo. Cerca del final, Rachmaninoff recupera el segundo tema en una gran y poderosa orquestación. Finalmente, una rápida coda conduce al concierto a su fin.

Description (EN): The Piano Concerto No. 2, Op 18 in C minor, is a piano and orchestra composed by Sergei Rachmaninoff between the autumn of 1900 and April 1901. The work was released in full, part also with the composer as soloist, on October 27, 1901, with his cousin Aleksandr Ziloti directing. This work is one of his most memorable pieces, and earned him recognition and a solid reputation as a composer of concert.
This part is divided into three movements:
I. Moderato
The opening movement begins with a series of chords on the piano as if hints of bell try to create tension, finally reaching a climax in the introduction of the first issue. In this first section, the orchestra plays a melody of Russian character while the piano makes a consistent accompaniment arpeggios. After the great first theme, followed by a rapid transition to the second theme is presented in me, more lyrical E flat major.
II. Adagio sostenuto
The second movement begins with a series of slow chords with the strings that modulate the C minor of the previous movement in E major. The piano enters playing a simple arpeggiated figure. The theme is introduced by the flute and then passes between the piano and other soloists before the music accelerates to a short climax centered on the piano. The original motif is repeated, and the music seems extinguished, finishing with just the soloist.
III. Allegro scherzando
The last movement begins with a small orchestral introduction that modulates my Descending do, before the piano solo leads to the hectic first subject. The excitement dies and the oboe and violas introduce a topic of great lyricism. Near the end, Rachmaninoff retrieves the second item in a large and powerful orchestration. Finally, a quick coda leads to the concert to a close.
