PICNIC OUTBREAK Shiny Hunting Explained! Best Early Game Shiny Method in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
538This is the best method for shiny hunting that has been discovered so far in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet! It can be unlocked extremely early in the game too!
The Picnic Outbreak shiny method is very simple. After you start your Treasure Hunt you will gain access to mass outbreaks of Pokemon spawning once per day on your map. You can force these to respawn by advancing your Switch date/time forward by one day.
Once you find the outbreak you want to shiny hunt proceed to the area where the icon is located. When you get there you need to knock out 60 Pokemon of the outbreak species. Make sure you keep count! Obviously you need to use the Let's Go command or this will take absolutely forever.
Once you knock out the 60 Pokemon you will have the best shiny odds possible which is 1/1366. Base odds are 1/4096 so this is a great improvement. Once you beat the game you can unlock even better boosts with the Shiny Charm and Sandwich boosts.
After you knock out the 60 Pokemon you should start shiny checking everything spawning in the Mass Outbreak. If none are shiny then go to the menu and open your Picnic Area. After it opens close it immediately. All the Pokemon in the Mass Outbreak will respawn slowly and you can shiny check those ones. If none are shiny then continue to open and close your Picnic area to reset the spawns.
It took me about an hour of doing this method to get the shiny Pichu that you see on the video. It was very difficult to see the shiny because Pichu barely changes at all. This game has no shiny noise or shiny sparkle when Pokemon enter the overworld so you won't know it's shiny until you encounter it and it does the sparkle animation during the encounter.
