Watermelon made the last and biggest SEGA Genesis / Mega Drive game and they describe the RPG and show the beautiful cartridge in this retro-style interview. Now they make new MD / SNES games and Pier Solar will become digital-HD.

"It's not an old game. It is a new game, it was released for Mega Drive in 2010 so it's quite unique in its market".

"Concept was supposed to be an ISO to download and play on your Mega-CD" "but emulators are not so acurate, so we had a lot of bugs and we decided to go for a Mega Drive version. Mega Drive is much more easier, it's just two processors instead of three, you don't need to syncronize them the way the Mega-CD does"

"If people's going to pay money, they better pay for something that's going to be worth it. And quality comes above anything"

"Since this was going to be the last game made for SEGA Genesis, it had to be the one that would close the door with a golden key (another game is happening now, but by then we didn't know!)".

"Pier Solar plays like most of the RPG you have played back in the 90s. If you've ever played Phantasy Star 2, 3, 4, if you've ever played Lunar: Eternal Blue, those games were big source of inspiration, but also the Super Nintendo games like Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana".

"Then we tried to bring unique features: make the battle more challenging".

If you are like "I love it, but my Mega Drive has broken or I cannot find it!", then the 2013 HD digital version is for you. "We started doing a 1:1 Dreamcast port, and during that process we decided to enhance it, but that costs money, so we decided to run a Kickstarter and extend it to other platforms (consoles and PC)".

"We're going to release a Super Nintendo game, another Mega Drive game and we're going to offer things that weren't available for Pier Solar... I cannot talk about them, they're a surprise".

More on their community development concept Magical Web Factory at the end of the interview.

From 11:15 on, you can see the certified package & cartridge.

Pier Solar aims for December in Dreamcast, PC (Windows, Mac, Linux), Android (mobile, Ouya), Wii U, "Xbox and maybe others".
