Pike and Shot Campaigns Historical Battles The Relief of Nantwich January 1644 Captain General
I race my soldiers across open countryside to reach the town of Nantwich before a massive Parliamentarian relief army four times the size of my own gets there first. Can I reach and storm the town in time, and even if I do, can I possibly defeat such a gigantic enemy force?

Spoilers!
I'm 60% certain the only reason I won out here was again due to AI stupidity unfortunately. Sending the entire army to investigate the village my army came from while I stormed and took the town they were marching to save was quite the sight to behold. Even with this it ended up being close despite the deceptively favourable rout percentage as I would have been handily thrashed had Parliament's infantry ever closed. Getting my army across the bridge and hammering Parliament's infantry with missile fire would definitely have been the way to go had the entire army descended upon my position. This is definitely not a battle for the faint at heart and it would have been a glorious challenge had the AI just behaved the way it was supposed to.
