12I have to say, this day didn't go as well as I had planned. Especially with the casualties suffered along the way. But you can't always get what you want.
Heading back into the Valley of Repose really only left a single task - The Frontier Cavern. A lengthy 8-floor trek that poses many dangers and possible problems. It starts off with a snow-filled interior and changed to a mixture of regular ground.
*Annotated Reference - When returning from a cutscene mid-level, this game will cause all controls to lock until the transitional fade is complete. If this happens while Pikmin are poisoned, on fire, trapped in water bubbles and what have you, then you cannot whistle them until the game returns your control. If this happens in tandem with a treasure being returned to the same time, you can loose Pikmin easily to hazards as a result. Just thought I'd note this.
We encounter Bulbmin for the first time here. These parasitic Pikmin in Bulbmin coats actually are usable units with the properties of Red, Yellow, Blue and White Pikmin combined. That seems pretty broken, but the balance is that they will only stay inside the caves you found them inside of.
Also, I gain some much needed Sprays! However, I really need to learn how to watch my surroundings and take more caution...
