Sigh........... When I think about games like these it really makes me sad. Back in the day when this game came out we were not yet familiar with the term "tech demo". Games were simply just games. This game here is a tech demo that was released at the launch of the Super Nintendo, and as much as it was a tech demo, it was also a complete and well designed game. Pilot Wings right out the gate showed off what the SNES was really capable of and displayed graphics and game play never before seen on a home console. It was truly mind blowing and impossibly fun all at the same time. Today's tech demos are too much "demo" and not enough game.

I did capture the first helicopter rescue mission but decided to leave it out because it would have pushed this video over 26 minutes long. My videos are never meant to be a play through of any kind, but a reference so if you've never seen it before, I want it to be a nice surprise and not spoil it for you anyway. This game is incredibly common meaning that it is also very cheap to get a hold of. I cannot recommend this game enough. This is a classic example of why Nintendo became known for innovation. They used to be very innovative in their games, but it seems that they have lost sight of game innovation and have concentrated on hardware innovation lately which is cool, but while I like the Wii, game innovation is what is needed today. Nintendo, take a good look at what you used to be.
