0It is easy to say that Pit Stop II on the Atari is one of the better racing games of 1984, but there were very few alternatives available at this point. Compared to the original Pit Stop or the home conversions of Pole Position from 1983, there are clear improvements here. The hot seat mode is a great addition and the graphics have a few extra details, but the speed of the game and the quality of controls cannot match the enjoyment of Pole Position. The C64 will provide a better version of the same game, but I feel the title of best racing game from 1984 would go to F1 Racing on the NES.
