Pixel Noir (Demo)

As for the game itself, it was a lot shorter than I was expecting, and like I said near the end, I don't know or even think the events here are really canon. Instead we get a brief glimpse of the battle system and probably the bare basics of investigating. Whether or not our detective is indeed a hopeless drunk or thing are indeed stranger than they seem will have to wait for the actual game release to find out. I mean, if we have to decide whether the world is indeed going to hell or our MC is just crazy, which is the more likely scenario? Think of all the games out there that have demonstrated the capabilities of the police and military to solving various crises... Wait, scratch that. We're boned.
My main complaint with the demo of course is simply its brevity. I would have liked to see party combat in action and maybe an actual boss fight instead of the abrupt anti-climatic ending we get here. There is supposed to be the ability to combo your attacks with your teammates, which we simply couldn't see here. I don't know if the way it works is more like Disgaea combos, Chrono Trigger combo techs, or a Fairy Fencer F avalanche attack, and sadly I don't have anything to show you to clarify.
Still, despite all of this, I opted to back the game and go as far as to record the demo for those of you that can't or don't want to. If you like what you see, the link is at the top of the description. If you want to wait, you have plenty of time before the campaign ends, and worse come to worse, you can always pick up the game when it is finally released. Depending on how the stars align, it could very well be a project on the channel sometime in 2017 (I doubt it will actually finish next year, but the devs can prove me wrong).
