0so i ended up making a vector field to describe the gravity for planets, which lets me do do some weird things.
The first section shows a field with no distortion. Second introduces noise with a magnitude of 0.125f and frequency of 2. Third uses a magnitude of 0.25f, fourth uses 0.5f, fifth uses 1.0f.
