Planet Trade Review — Take-that Terraforming Mars
Want Terraforming Mars but with attack and defend mechanics through card play? Planet Trade is a sci-fi Euro where you play as companies trying to become the richest (mostly by shipping goods and increasing income). Every round, you’ll play cards, push cubes and and construct hex tile buildings on planets to increase resource production there. Player turns are varied from asymmetric abilities and worker placement in the form of freighters to collect goods, which allows for tons of counterplay and strategy to consider how changing demand affects each resource's value and how much money you get. But how does this compare to the more solitaire, engine-building Terraforming Mars? Are the take-that cards even a good fit here with the efficiency play? Does this Fat Moose games prototype hold it back with regards to balance and ease of gameplay?
