I used HexEditor to hack the zen garden on PlantsVSZombies for my MacBook Pro.

This is the only way to get some of these plants that are normally unavailable (like the 3 different colored Lily Pads in the water tank). ^_^

EDIT - I've been getting a lot of PMs asking me how to do this, so to make things easier I'll try explaining it to the best of my abilities. I'm not very good at tutorials so please bare with me.

First make a backup of your saved data. The path to the file is...
Macintosh HD / Users / Your Name / Libarary / Application Support / PopCap / Userdata

Once that is done, open the game and select the Zen Garden. Go to the shop and buy a Marigold Sprout pant. Do not buy or do anything else within the game after you buy the Marigold. Just go to the main menu and exit the game.

Now in the folder Userdata (the original, not the backup) open the file userX.dat (The 'X' being a number, usually 1) with the HexEditor. The data for the most recent plant that you bought should be at the end/bottom.

It should look similar to this...

The value '26' represents the Marigold Sprout that you just bought. The other numbers stand for various other things, but I'm not going to get into that as this tutorial is just for hacking plants in the Zen Garden. ;)

As you've probably already guessed by now, that first value needs to be changed to get whatever plant you want. So for example if you want a Peashooter you have to change the 26 to 00, or else if you want a Sunflower change the 26 to 01...

Each time you want a new plant, just repeat the process of buying a Marigold Sprout and editing the value to the corresponding plant.

I had to find out the values the hard way, so to save you some time I'll include the list down below. I strongly suggest not getting a Corn Cannon as it will most likely cause your game to glitch and fuck up. As you can see from my video, the rest of the plants work fine after hacking.

Note - Sometimes you'll get a different colored plant while using the codes. For example, I was able to get red and dark green Lilly Pads. I also got a green Wall-Nut once.
