Polski: "Mafia II" to kontynuacja wydanej w 2002 roku gry "Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven" autorstwa Illusion Softworks. Za część drugą odpowiada ta sama ekipa, która od roku 2008 znana jest pod inną nazwą (2K Czech). Prócz tytułów opowiadających o niesławnej włoskiej grupie przestępczej, firma znana jest między innymi z Hidden & Dangerous, czy Vietcong. W grze wcielamy się w postać Vito Scalettiego, w momencie, gdy kończy on służbę wojskową i zimą 1946 roku wraca do domu - monumentalnego Empire Bay. Wraz z przyjacielem Joe Barbaro, próbują odnaleźć się na powrót w tej rzeczywistości. Nie zamierzają jednak zatrudnić się w dokach jako tania siła robocza. Czeka na nich bowiem „kariera" w świecie przestępczym, w szeregach jednej z lokalnych rodzin mafijnych.

English: "Mafia II" is a continuation of the game given in 2002 "Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven" of the Illusion Softworks authorship. The same team which from 2008 is known by another name is responsible for the second part (2K Czech). Apart from titles telling about an infamous Italian gang of criminals, the name is familiar among others from Hidden & Dangerous, or the Vietcong. In the game we are impersonating the character of Vito Scaletta, in the moment, when he is finishing the military service and with winter of 1946 is getting back home - the city of Empire Bay. With the friend Joe Barbara, are trying to be found back in this reality. They aren't going however to get a job in docks as the cheap labour force. The "carrer" is waiting for them in the criminal world, in numbers of one of local mafia families.
