I've put together a very crude but functional YouTube player for the Oculus Rift, working on DK1 and 2. You can watch 2D and 3D (Side By Side or Over/Under) YouTube videos using this experimental application.

In this version, the software solution now encodes the videos in separate 1min long chunks by pair, and launches the player immediately after encoding the whole first 1min chunk pair.
This allows the player to play the video as it is still being encoded in more 1min long chunks.
The downside of this approach is that the player produces a bit of microstutter everytime it loads the next chunk of video. It's a tiny downside, much less a downside than having to wait for the WHOLE video to encode like the previous version did.

This was still built using the Oculus SDK 0.4.2
When the app is updated in the future, this video will be updated.

v0.2 Changes/Updates
0.2.2 -Player reverted to DX9 for stability reasons
0.2.2 -Player now needs Extend HMD mode exclusively with the DK2 (DX9)
0.2.2 -Player does not have v-sync on to help prevent problems with bad DX9 sync on the DK2
0.2.2 -Fixed player bug causing the end-video restart to show a blank screen
0.2.2 -Script now encodes at 4M and native framerate
0.2.2 -Now using 45s chunks to speed up pre-load time; the "seamless" reading seems good enough for this.
0.2.2 -Script changed to terminate if it does not see the video player anymore (although remaining encoding processes must finish up before they terminate)

0.2.1a-The script now lets videos encode at their native framerate
0.2.1a-Screen can be pushed back further in player

0.2.1 -The player now uses a "seamless" technique, eliminating the sharp "cut" between chunks

0.2.0 -Updated SVPTube (1.2.1 to 1.2.4)
0.2.0 -Originally the player would eventually catch up with the encoding:
Now, the script encodes the chunks in pairs to prevent this, while leaving enough resources for the player to run

v0.1 Changes/Updates
-Video player now has a room (couch, table, room)
-Video player now has "adjust screen" option
-Video player now loads videos in chunks of 1 minute
-SVP Tube script encodes videos in 1 minute long chunks
-SVP Tube script launches video player after encoding first chunk, instead of waiting for the entire video to finish

Known Issues
-The video player will flash to black for one second when loading each one minute chunk
-Sometimes, a one minute chunk can fail to encode, requiring the player to be shut down and restarted from SVP Tube.
