Playing Insurgency on a PSP
51It's not the question of "Can you play it on a PSP?"
It's the question of "Why would you play it on a PSP?"
Because I can, and I will.
I am playing Insurgency on a PSP 1000. Why did I pick Insurgency instead of a much newer game? I needed an excuse to play my favorite shooter again.
This is isn't really my usual type of videos, I like running around doing dumb shit and goofing off, so I tried doing some dumb shit while doing this to keep the feel of the type of videos I make.
Why am I doing this?
Back in the early days of the PSP, a program for jailbroken/custom firmware PSPs was released called PSPdisp. It allowed your PSP to be used as a second monitor, and either through USB or internet connection (WLAN), you were able to control whatever was on your PC including games. Many videos were released back in the day showing this off, with MANY of them being branded as fake by people who didn't know this was possible.
I'm doing this to sort of "bring back" how great it was to own a PSP back in the day and how cool it was to customize and jailbreak it. I'm too lazy to use emulators. You can easily get a PSP for $20-$50 nowadays, compared to $250 when they were first released.
Now how the hell do you do this?
The requirements for this to work:
- A PC (One that can play video games of course)
- A PSP 1000/2000 (Don't know if it works for 3000/Go)
- Custom firmware (Jailbreaking the PSP, tons of info online on how-to)
- PSPdisp (You can find it on their website here: https://jjs.at/software/pspdisp.html)
Make sure to follow the instructions given on the website to get it working properly on Windows 10 after you install the drivers, as you need to edit the BIOS by disabling "driver signature enforcement" to get it to work. I won't make a how-to video, there's plenty of information accessible online to get this working properly, just be patient.
