So now we're into real 3D gaming. The quake engine would go on to power loads of other games - most of Valves first catalogue. I remember my first go at this and thinking "how the fuck do you use keyboard and mouse at the same time ?" - and the speed of it, it's like an out of control car !

Quake actually had a fantastic modding community, long before that was a real thing. In this video I've dropped in the Omicron bot (which as you'll see kicks my ass).
