Showing off a bit of gameplay of the obscure and forgotten Konami racer which Vectrex4Life may have introduced to you via videos of the game he made.

And while he may have said that you cannot play this or the original Racing Jam on MAME due to emulation of the two being non-existent, or at least that's how it was at the time he made videos on the game, emulation of the two games via MAME does exist nowadays, except only in sorta kinda ways as it is still far from perfect: It can more often than not crash as it will happen either mid-race or before you even cross the finish line (unless you are playing it on the latest standalone version of MAME which does not suffer from as much crashes as it normally did), and that it does suffer from some lag and the music is not very accurate. It also has a few graphical glitches here and there that still needs to be ironed out in a future MAME release before it is arcade-perfect.

I'll be racing through the Beginner A circuit aka Circuit Bank in a BMW M5 as one of the three hidden cars or so-called "Premium cars" selectable by pushing down on the brake on the car select screen. With sheer luck, I managed to finish the race without the game crashing once as it often would due to still-persisting above-described imperfect emulation.

Sorry for the clunky movements in the EmuVR environment. As of now, I do not have a VR headset and controller, but due to my latest great addiction to EmuVR, I do plan to get the Valve Index VR headset at some point which does cost me well over like a K, or I would invest in an Oculus/Meta Quest 2 which is what most people use because it is more popular and affortable than the other higher end VR headsets, and costs about €400 to €550, depending on the amount of GBs it has. I had to use my keyboard and mouse to do all the movements and grabs in the environment.

I'm playing the game on my [virtual] PlayStation through a method of setting the media from Arcade to PlayStation whilst keeping the core to "mame_libretro". The big caveat however is that every time I want to add a game I want to play via MAME on my PlayStation in EmuVR, I have to set the media back to Arcade and then back to PlayStation, or else it won't find any games.

I would eventually make a follow-up video where I play the game again in a more arcade-accurate state and playing with the VR glasses on once I get hold on one of them.
