Playing Snack Attack II on the IBM PC
The following is footage of Snack Attack II, developed for the IBM PC by Michael Abrash and Dan Illowsky in 1982. It is not a complete playthrough, but rather just enough gameplay to serve as a reference for how the game performs on the original hardware it was developed for.
This footage was recorded from an IBM PC (8088 CPU running at 4.77MHz) with a ("new-style") CGA card. The audio was tapped from the PC speaker and the video was recorded from the CGA composite output. The result was post-processed from 30i to 60p; all source frames are intact.
Personal notes: Snack Attack (the original) was not published for the IBM PC, only Snack Attack II.
This is the very last of 15 videos I recorded in 2010 and scheduled to become public one per year. Back in 2010, youtube allowed you to pick any arbitrary date in the future to schedule becoming public; now they limit it to only 2 or 3 years ahead. A shame, since it would be cool to make video time capsules this way.
