hfactor does a full playthrough of the Sonic 1 Prototype and explores every level in the game, without debug.

So, 2021 is already starting off pretty interesting, as a prototype beta build of Sonic 1 was found and put up for download on the first of January by drx and Buckaroo. This was incredibly fun to play through, as I had fun pointing out everything that was different compared to the final game and exploring as much of the game as I could. There's some things from this prototype that I wish made it to the retail release, like the branching paths in Marble Zone and the Labyrinth background, and the drums, oh man those drums... seriously, someone hop to it with those extended music themes with these drums, we need to preserve how good these drums sound.
