Warning: If you think LeBron is the goat, this video will make you seriously rethink your belief.

I am L.A. NoMercy. Lyricist, gamer, and logician (INTP). I developed a unique take on the NBA goat debate (and general debates between basketball players) by researching the playoff experience of the players and how they stack up against the competition they face, as well as how competitive they help their teams become in the process.

After researching every team’s regular season winning percentage since 1947 (the beginning of professional basketball), I determined that a 69% (57-25) or better record has a 73% chance of winning the NBA championship. Any other team, with a less than 69% record, has a 27% chance of winning the NBA championship.

Going off of that metric, it is ideal for a player to help their team win at least 69% of their regular season games to be a championship contender.

Once their team is competitive enough to likely win the championship, they must deliver more often than not when it comes to winning.

This video shows the comparisons and similarities between Michael Jordan and LeBron James in their playoff experience, as well as the differences.

At one point near the end of the video, I say that LeBron had 5 cakewalks to the finals, but I name 2011 as one of them. That is INCORRECT!

2007 vs Spurs
2012 vs Thunder
2013 vs Spurs
2017 vs Warriors
and
2020 vs Heat

These are the ACTUAL 5 cakewalks LeBron had to the finals, so please excuse my mistake.

I also said Michael Jordan beat 21 65% wins or more opponents in his 13 years of playoff experience, when I meant to say he FACED 21 such teams. The misunderstanding gets cleared up later, but I wanted to officially make it clear here.

I got all my team information from basketballreference.com

Thank you and enjoy!
