The production of this video was very difficult and time consuming for me for 2 weeks, to bring you this very nice viewing experience. The video was needed to be split and cut in 20 parts to be individually processed and then rejoined into the final video product you see here - so it was a lot of hard work for me - with the thumbnail picture included. Please show some appreciation for this channel and my hard work and do the right thing. Thank you for your attention :-)
[Note that the original game *does not* include scanlines. I digitally cleaned the video image and added the scanlines effects separately after as part of editing the video. The game is actually very blurry and upon witnessing it for the first 20 minutes perhaps, until you get used to it, it will hit you like a ton of bricks and shellshock you lol because this is something you aren't used to. So to make the video experience more smooth, pleasant, and increase the in-game visibility of this video, I have decided to present it in an enhanced visual format (and I think it looks great like this and I'm very pleased in the resulted outcome :) but the original game is not like this. But after playing it for a while, I do believe you will gradually get used to its blocky video imagery :]
This game is definitely some kind of a treat because we are getting here like a GameBoy Color Doom game which is called 'Poom' ;) Okay, if that didn't get your attention, this next part definitely will: it features a full new set of levels; so it's definitely a new Doom experience - wow!
The game looks what Doom would be if it had arrived on portable devices in the very late 80s and early 90s when such handhelds were the epitome of portable gaming. One noticeable drawback would definitely be the mode of playing it with such an old control scheme, this can be somewhat of a huge adjustment if you (and I) are used to the ways of modern controlled games. So here, just like those handhelds, you are given the 4-directionals movement keys and 2 action keys - one for shooting and one for strafing. Another alternate way of controlling the action is with the arrow-keys and mouse-look but it was way over my hand to reach over and I was very cramped to play like that so I could not do it really and therefore it was not for me lol
Feeling confident, I went for the Hard difficulty at first but after a while (the 2nd level to be more precise lol) I realized that I couldn't really do it and I turned it down a notch to Normal. The main reason was that it was very difficult to play and actually dodge by always pressing that -strafe- key. Because I'm so used to playing with the mouse, I oftentimes forget to press that key and I kept getting chewed up by the monsters lol. HOWEVER, this is not a lost cause, had I (and you) played this game for long enough I don't believe this to be a future issue anymore because you can get used to this new (or actually very old lol) way of controlling things; so I do believe that after maybe a few weeks of playing and re-playing this game you might really get good at it over time that you won't notice the extra pressing of a key during gameplay.
The graphics are a bit hard to get used to at first but I believe that after a while of playing it will not mind you so much. The game is definitely fun and can offer lots of replays and on higher difficulty settings if you're so inclined to do so. Most importantly the game is free, yes you heard right, freee lol so just Google it for the most relevant and newest link. For me this was an 11/10 gems game experience - it was great! I would have liked to see some more outdoor areas as this game barely had any and looking forward to that sequel already, right? Poom 2 hehe. And now I know the secrets to my Poom hehe haha lol because all secrets are discovered here ;p
