Helldivers 2 hit an all-time low concurrent player count on Steam, dropping to just below 13,000 players in early July 2024. While its community remains fairly substantial, many Helldivers 2 players appear to have moved on from the game, at least for the time being.

Arrowhead Game Studios' latest title was released for the PS5 and PC on February 8. The PlayStation-published live-service shooter debuted to widespread fan adoration and critical acclaim, quickly becoming a hit across all supported platforms. According to the latest commercial update from Sony, Helldivers 2 sold over 12 million copies as of March 31. In this video Dreamcastguy talks about the future of a game like Concord coming to PlayStation 5 and other PS5 exclusives since big budget live service games are becoming the goal and I dont think that is a good idea for the future roadmap of PS5 Pro games and eventually the PS6 if games get more expensive and their other ways to make profit in 2024 are falling apart. Silent Hill and Gravity Rush creator Keiichiro Toyama says Sony wanted Japan Studio to make more high budget games but he wants to create original games!

“With Sony, there was an increasing motive to make more highly budgeted games, and it wanted to go that way with the Japan Studio brand,

My motive was always to create original games. I feel I can do this without a massive budget. This allows me to express myself as well. By going independent, this has allowed me to do that. From my time at Sony, I feel like I’m accomplishing what I want to do.”
