I go through Route 229, which doesn't have much there, and there is the Resort Area, which has a building which can only be accessed if you have enough Ribbons, and there are some good things you can get there if you can get access to the place.

As for the rest of the description, I recommend watching the full video before reading past this point of the description

Route 229 is quite short, and there aren't too many Trainers, but the Double Battle is very notable, they are a reference to Jirachi Wish Maker, because one of the characters in that movie uses Mightyena, Kirlia, Dusclops, and Salamence, I do like how some of the Trainers in this game do references various Pokémon movies.
Then to go over encounters, and you can find Gloom and Weepinbell more commonly on this route, and you can even find their pre-evolved forms Oddish and Bellsprout, but they can also be found in the Grand Underground.
For new encounters, you can find Ledian in the morning, I will go over the good about it first, Ledian has good Speed and Special Defense, it can set up screens, and that's about it, Ledian is one of the worse fully evolved Pokémon in the whole Pokémon series, it is very weak as an attacker, it has a terrible type that gives it a 4x weakness to Rock, and it doesn't have much else that is good. They even gave it Iron Fist for its Hidden Ability, when Ledian has a really low Attack stat, do the world a favour and don't even use that thing.
At night, you can find Ariados, and it can learn a move called Toxic Thread, which lowers the target's Speed stat and poisons them, Ariados got a signature move at least, and it can learn Swords Dance, Leech Life, and Poison Jab, does that make it a great Pokémon? It does not, Ariados has very low Speed, and has really bad defensive stats, so all that potential is wasted, if a Pokémon has very low Speed and defensive stats, there is no point in using it. You can find Ledian and Ariados in the Grand Underground, and you can get their pre-evolved forms Ledyba and Spinarak through breeding.
To continue with terrible encounters, next up is Volbeat and Illumise, don't even bother with them. If you are expecting me to go over the good thing about them, I might as well, Volbeat is one of few Pokémon that can learn Tail Glow, and it can get Baton Pass as an Egg Move, and that's basically it, and as with Illumise, it doesn't have anything that makes it stand out.
As if that didn't get even worse, the swarm encounter for that route is Pidgey, and it cannot be found in the Grand Underground, and while you can evolve it into Pidgeotto in one level, and you can evolve it again in Pidgeot in one more level, it is severely outclassed by every other Flying-type Pokémon, and it doesn't help the fact it's better than Farfetch'd, if only Mega Evolution was brought to this game, then Pidgeot would shine, but Mega Evolution wasn't even introduced in the original games, so the Pidgey line are just there for Pokédex filler.
The Poké Radar encounters for this route are Venonat and Venomoth, and they are better encounters, you can find them in the Grand Underground. Venomoth can learn Quiver Dance, and it can use Stun Spore or Sleep Powder to inflict status conditions, it can get Tinted Lens for its Ability, and it has access to some nice moves like Bug Buzz, Sludge Bomb, and Psychic, and for Egg Moves, it can learn Baton Pass, Morning Sun, Toxic Spikes, and Rage Powder, at least Venomoth has some good utility in moves, although it is kind of an average Pokémon in terms of stats.
For items you can pick up, you can get a Reaper Cloth, which you can equip to Dusclops to evolve it into Dusknoir when traded, and some other items. I decided to do the Resort Area in this video, and that place got expanded on in Platinum. In Platinum, you can fish for Magikarp with the Super Rod, what makes this special is that Magikarp can be found at any level, so you could potentially get a Level 100 Magikarp in the wild, while it cannot evolve, it is at least something.
There is the Ribbon Syndicate, which you can only visit if you have up to 10 Ribbons on one of your Pokémon, you can get one from Dr. Footstep, the woman in the Pokémon Fan Club in Hearthome City if you have maxed out Friendship, in the Sticker Shop in Sunyshore City if you maxed up EVs, from Julia's house everyday if you talk to her, and from beating the Pokémon League. You can buy Ribbons there for high prices, including one that sells for 1 million Pokédollers, and the best way to grind money is rematch the elderly couple on Route 212 or the Double Team on Route 210 with the Vs. Seeker, and at the top floor is where you can raise your Pokémon's Friendship, and I personally call it Friendship, most people call it Happiness, but the proper term is Friendship, in older games, it was called Loyalty, which makes a bit of sense, as it is about how friendly the Pokémon is with you.
