Back to Johto, and this time, I enter Mt. Mortar. I think this was where the Karate King is training at, and you can battle him right after getting all 8 Johto Badges and before taking on the Elite Four. This place isn't required in beating the game, but I remember you get a special Pokémon after you defeat the Karate King, which you'll see in this video.
