The Rules are Simple:
1. You may only catch the first pokemon in a given area unless you have already caught one of that species line.
2. You must name all Pokemon you catch or receive for maximum Heartbreak.
3. To faint is to die. If a Pokemon faints it must be released or permanently boxed.
We are also avoiding:
Item use in battle wherever possible
Outleveling the next gym leader's ace.
Looking anything up with the exception of Gym Leader Levels and Evolution methods.
