6After defeating Team Rocket at the Goldenrod City Radio Tower, go to Blackthorn City and enter the gym. This gym has platforms over lava that will move when standing on the arrow tiles. Guide the platforms across the lava and go to the next landing. Once you made it across, you’ll take on the gym leader. Clair uses Dragon type Pokémon. Gyarados will use Twister for a 20% chance of making the target flinch and can even strike those who prepare Fly or Bounce. Dragonair will use Thunder Wave to paralyze the target and Fire Blast for a 10% chance of burning the target. Kingdra will use Smokescreen to lower the target’s Accuracy stat and Hyper Beam to deal massive damage but at the requirement to recharge the next turn. After the battle, Clair won’t give you anything right away, but she will ask you to go to the Dragon’s Den and enter a shrine guarded by elders. After taking a test by an elder, Clair will come by to give you the Rising Badge. As you’re about to leave the den, Clair will also give you a TM59 (Dragon Pulse).
