Giovanni could be difficult if Onix and Rhyhorn lowered my defense too much. Kangaskhan can use Mega Punch, but this time it kept on using Tail Whip. I picked up the Sliph Scope and a Net/Nest Ball and I used an Escape Rope. I went into the Celadon gym and I used Flamethrower on all the Grass Pokémon for an easy victory against Erika.
I used Teleport and I entered the Department Stone to sell my Nuggets and vitamins. I bought X-Attacks, X-Specials, X-Speeds, Guard Specials, evolution stones, Great Balls, Super Potions and Super Repels. I also got Fly and I taught it to Farfetch'd. I flew to Lavender Town and I fought against my rival. Wartortle was the only dangerous opponent with Mega Kick misses and the Withdraw/Water Gun combo. Rock Slide could also miss Growlithe and Charmeleon finally evolved.

Saved at 1:25 with a L36 Charizard and 23 Pokémon registered.
