Pokémon Let's Go, Pikachu! Playthrough 21: Erika's Plant Maze
It is time to take on the Celadon City Gym, and you can give the guards some Tea in order to enter Saffron City, but I will not be showing all of Saffron City until a later point in time. The Celadon City Gym uses Grass-types, and it is a maze, so getting to Erika, the Gym Leader is going to require Chopping Down many trees.
As the rest of the description, I recommend watching the full video before reading past this point of the description.
In Saffron City, you can get the TM for Psychic, which is a great move to have, specially on Hypno or Kadabra, so that way you have some good options for the Celadon Gym, as most of the Grass-types in this game are part Poison-type.
Next up is Celadon Gym, and you will need to show a cute Pokémon to the girl at the entrance, your Pikachu or Eevee will very likely count. If you have any good Fire-types, like Charmeleon, Ninetales of Arcanine, or any Flying-types like Pidgeotto or even Golbat are good options. If you did the trade for Alolan Sandshrew or Alolan Vulpix and evolved them, they can be very helpful against the Gym Trainers.
The Gym Leader, Erika isn't that tough if you have a Fire or Flying-type on your team, or even a Psychic-type to deal with her Weepinbell and Vileplume. All of her Pokémon know Mega Drain, Tangela has Sleep Powder and Bind, which are annoying moves to deal with, Weepinbell has Poison Jab, and Vileplume has Moonblast. If you taught your partner Pokémon the Special Move Tutor moves, Pikachu's Floaty Fall or Eevee's Sizzly Slide and Glitzy Glow are good against this Gym.
After beating Erika, you will earn the Rainbow Badge and the TM for Mega Drain, which to make up for Giga Drain not being in the game, Mega Drain is 75 Base Power. This move can be taught to Venusaur or Victreebel, some Bug-type Pokémon, like Venomoth and Parasect can learn this move as well.
