The game takes place in the Kanto region and starts from choosing your character as well as naming yourself and your rival. After This you are thrown into the world of Pokemon and get to catch your first Pokemon Pikachu. In this version of Let's Go your starter Pokemon is Pikachu and once you have Pikachu you can catch more Pokemon and grow your team. This game also introduces the new mechanic of swinging the controller and timing your throws to catch the Pokemon rather than a battle to weaken the Pokemon and then throw a ball.
