Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX – Custom Painted PDP Dock Shield [+Giveaway]
In this video* the two Pokémon Cubone and Totodile are in search of the lost speedpaint video clips, in which you can see me painting my personal “Rescue Team” onto a plexiglass plate for the Nintendo Switch PDP Dock. In addition to that, you can find some giveaways in this YouTube video.
For this artwork I tried to reflect the unique style of “Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX”. I used the colors of the Posca pens and a regular paint brush with some water to obtain this watercolor effect. So, the transitions and shadings look smoother.

My opinion about the game:
(Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX was sponsored by Nintendo for testing it out.)
I have to admit, that I didn’t know what to expect when I started the game for the first time. It is not a typical Pokémon game, but a “Dungeon Crawler”. I haven’t played any of these before, so it took me some time to get used to this kind of game. What instantly catched me, tough, is the cute and unique art style. It appears like the characters are walking in a huge aquarelle painting.
In addition to that, I like that the Pokémon themselves are the protagonists and not their human trainers. So, we can explore a deeper side of our favorite “Pocket Monsters”. Also, the deep story surprised me a bit, since you are a human, which awakens in the body of a Pokémon. Furthermore, there are some naturals disasters happening and you, the “Rescue Team”, have to help.
One problem of the game, though, is that there are no good tutorials. In the beginning of the game there are some text boxes with some tips, but I found them not very useful. I haven’t played any Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games before, so I’m a bloody noob. I checked out some YouTube videos, which have been very useful to master this game.
Overall, the game offers a pretty solid and interesting story, really cute graphics and cool game mechanics. The dungeons are sometimes challenging, but not too hard. With the countless items and custom “Rescue Teams” the difficulty level can be adjusted easily.
Another thing I have been enjoyed much is that when you fail a mission, you can be saved by other players. This feature is only available with Nintendo Online, though. It’s pretty cool, since it is not the end of the world when you’ve failed, and you can reward other players if they help you.
I have not completed the game yet, but I definitely will do so. “Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX” will not be my favorite Pokémon game, but it is perfectly suitable for a quick session in between.
As always, we are happy about design suggestions and feedback. Please leave a like if you enjoy this video.
