Today I paint one of my favorite video game characters – Geralt of Rivia! Since I‘m currently reading the book series – which is the basis for the game –, I decided to decorate the cover of my e-reader with some The Witcher art.
You won‘t believe it, but I don‘t only play Nintendo games. ;-)
When I tried out The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for the first time some years ago, I hated it. I couldn‘t get used to the controls and world.
However, last year a Nintendo Switch port of the game came out and I gave it another try, because of many good reviews. I don‘t know exactly why, but I instantly fell in love with this game and I couldn‘t stop playing.
Since I also love the game‘s lore, I started to read the books to learn even more about the story. I can‘t recommend the books enough!
However, I‘m still a little bit sceptical about the Netflix series, since I don‘t like the look of Geralt. Have you watched the show yet, and have also played the older The Witcher games?
I haven‘t, but as a The Witcher fan I will definitely do so in the near future! :-)

For this artwork I took the cover of the comic “The Witcher: of Flesh and Flame 1“ by Dark Horse Comics as a reference. Since Geralt and his suit of armor have many different shades of brown and gray tones, I had to mix most of them.
In order to do so I squeezed out some color out of the Posca pens and mixed them on a color palette. Of course, this is not ideal, but it works pretty well with a little bit of practice.
