Oh look, it's a double feature!!
.....Kind of.
Today we played not one, but _TWO_
Pokemon fan games!!! :O
The first was Pokemon Elpis, a Naval-focused
game that we played on a previous Wheel
Stream. It has an interesting premise! You're
a Pokemon Trainer that has been attacked
and marooned by pirates. And it's your
goal to warn all of the Island Masters about
them by battling each of them. Straightforward,
but the execution was severely lacking, unfortunately.
The fights were too difficult, the balancing
was effectively randomized, and grinding
up money could be stopped in an instant
by a single loss taking 90% of your money
away. My biggest complaint, though, is that I
was playing Version 1.6, so there probably won't
be many changes coming to it.
Afraid I'll have to give this one the first
ever Single Thumbs Down.

Now, Pokemon _Odyssey_ on the other hand,
was a completely different story!! This
game is heavily inspired by the Etrian Odyssey
and Made in Abyss Series', and makes heavy
use of assets and references from the former.
It is incredibly well made, with beautiful new
environments, original mechanics and ideas,
new original variant Pokemon,and even some
type changes to others! It makes for a wonderful
experience, and I can't wait to see what else
it has in store for me!!
