Going back to the very first Pokemon games on Game Boy again, Red/Blue, a full playthrough in parts one last time for Gen 1, I have something I've always wanted to do for a really long time. Playing Red this time (which I still own a real copy), my first ever Pokemon game, an unusual gameplay is being shown. Because the multi-billion dollar RPG franchise all debuted on the OG Game Boy, a vintage 8-bit handheld console, I have put on the actual dark green screen as seen in the initial 1989 DMG-001 models to bring Kanto to its original form! I have not seen any channel within the community attempt this at all...at least not in 𝘧𝘶𝘭𝘭 𝘴𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘯 and as a full play, meaning I am now the first to ever do so. This is as old school as you could possibly get for Pokemon, but I admit, it does make it somewhat difficult to see (its's even blurrier in the real thing) compared to leaving it grayscale by having the shades removed, which the Game Boy Pocket (and Color) did, and, yes, the hue is ugly and didn't age well. Nevertheless, in the pre-internet days of the late 1980s/early '90s, playing in your car with a screen like this was a huge deal, despite Pokemon Red/Blue being late in its lifespan, they were made in 1996-'98, and its competitors like Sega Game Gear already had color (but much worse battery life).

Unlike my playthrough of Yellow, instead of entirely focusing on the Eeveelutions, this time, I am armed with ALL five of the original Starters based on every Gen 1 game (but still having Eevee first), and in a twist, make Blue have Charmander to obtain the game's mascot. Like before, Gameshark cheat codes are used to drastically reduce grinding time, and the sound is muted to prevent sync issues due to periodic slowdowns during the recording (trust me, I do not like to mute).
