Part 9 of my latest playthrough series of Pokémon Ruby Version. This is not a first time playthrough. I last played the full game a long time ago and wanted to play it again. I am playing the game to fully explore it and catch as many Pokémon as possible. No audio commentary. Full and uncut to give a feeling of a live experience. The videos in this series are like a longplay, but not in one single video. The series is done in separate parts because a single video would be too long/large for me, and YouTube limits the features of videos after a certain length.

This video was live streamed on Twitch. My account is https://www.twitch.tv/pokemonmaster888_

Here are the video editing steps and equipment that I used to make the videos in this playthrough series:

Video game hardware: Nintendo GameCube, GCHD Mk-II, HDMI cable, Game Boy Player with official software. Recorded at 480p.

Video capture device: Elgato Game Capture HD
Video and audio recording program: OBS Studio v27.0.1
Video editing programs: AviSynth, VirtualDub, Avidemux

Software steps: This video file was recorded at 640x480. That was the canvas, and the video itself from the system was resized to be 640x448 on it. For editing, I isolated the game image from the original file by a cropping command and resized it to 720x480. I then resized that file to 2160x1440 using the nearest neighbor option and added borders on the left and right of the game image so that the aspect ratio is the widescreen number given by YouTube's online guidelines.

I recorded Part 9 in two sessions, so I merged two video files together to create this video. The first session was on February 10, 2022 and the second session was on February 25, 2022. The files are merged at the video mark of 2:14:16. The second file was recorded with x264 at the Medium, 13 CRF setting.

This is the last part of my Pokémon Ruby Version playthrough for now. The other things that have to be done in the game take a large amount of time or need the video game’s battery replaced because it isn’t working. I caught new Pokémon and also searched for Feebas, but decided to stop searching because finding that Pokémon can take a long time. Feebas is only in six spots of water on Route 119 out of all of the water in that route, and checking each spot to find Feebas will take time because the locations are random. I explored other areas of Hoenn and got items that I did not yet have. I searched for Latios in different ways and used an effective, fast strategy to encounter Latios for the first time. I also rematched Pokémon trainers that I beat before.
