Part 8 of my latest playthrough series of Pokémon Ruby Version. This is not a first time playthrough. I last played the full game a long time ago and wanted to play it again. I am playing the game to fully explore it and catch as many Pokémon as possible. No audio commentary. Full and uncut to give a feeling of a live experience. The videos in this series are like a longplay, but not in one single video. The series is done in separate parts because a single video would be too long/large for me, and YouTube limits the features of videos after a certain length.

Here are the video editing steps and equipment that I used to make the videos in this playthrough series:

Video game hardware: Nintendo GameCube, GCHD Mk-II, HDMI cable, Game Boy Player with official software. Recorded at 480p.

Video capture device: Elgato Game Capture HD
Video and audio recording program: OBS Studio
Video editing programs: AviSynth, Avidemux

Software steps: This video was recorded at 640x480. That was the canvas, and then the signal from the system was resized to be 640x448 on it. I isolated the game image from the original file by a cropping command and resized it to 720x480. I then resized that file to 2160x1440 using the nearest neighbor option and added borders on the left and right of the game image. The original file was recorded at a low quality, which makes this video less clear because I made the video dimensions bigger. The quality should be clear enough to see without an issue.

I team up with Regirock, Regice, and Registeel in this video. I trade Pokémon from another game to do the Sealed Chamber’s second statement more quickly. I then go to the Safari Zone, Battle Tower, and explore other parts of the game to finish things that I did not do. This video had a music claim for the legendary titans battles, so the audio in almost the whole section of this video including each of the three battles is muted. I am sorry about that, but I want this video to be free of restrictions.

Regirock took a long time to catch, while the other two Pokémon took less time to catch. The Battle Tower was fun, and I like the story in the game because it is more open to do things by yourself compared to Pokémon Emerald. That game had a lot of story elements for Hoenn, but this game lets you do a lot of them by exploring on your own. It is like the previous two sets of Pokémon games in that way, and I am glad you can do those different styles across the three Hoenn games.
