Before starting Surprise Trade, I show two Mystery Gift Pokémon, the first one is a Shiny Galarian Moltres, which you get if you took part in the International Challenge this month and have done at least three battles, and the other one is a Dracovish that was used in the Oceania International Championship, which is only available for a limited time.
This week, I will be trading Tangela through Surprise Trade, and I usually breed for 31 IVs in at least 4 or 5 stats, and I went with Sassy for the Nature, Tangela can work with Bold, Relaxed, or Impish, as it does have good Defense, but I chose Sassy because I used an Assault Vest Tangrowth in online battles, and I find that to be really good, and that does get through its very low Special Defense stat. I went with the Hidden Ability of Regenerator, as that is the best Ability for Tangela, and with its Egg Moves, I chose Rage Powder, Endeavor, Leech Seed, and Nature Power, Tangela can get Flail and Confusion, but I went with what was the best, I will list which parents in the Grass Egg Group that can learn those moves.
Confusion: Exeggcute, Exeggutor, A-Exeggutor
Endeavor: Cottonee, Whimsicott, Grookey, Thwackey, Rillaboom
Flail: Lotad, Lombre, Ludicolo
Leech Seed: Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, Venusaur, Exeggcute, Exeggutor, A-Exeggutor, Roselia, Roserade, Cherubi, Cherrim, Cottonee, Whimsicott, Maractus, Phantump Trevenant, Comfey, Flapple, Appletun
Nature Power: Lotad, Lombre, Ludicolo, Seedot, Nuzleaf, Shiftry
Rage Powder: Foongus, Amoonguss

In Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, Tangela learns Mega Drain, Leaf Storm, Amnesia, and Power Swap through breeding, Amnesia and Power Swap require Chain Breeding, Leaf Storm is best taken over either Endeavor or Nature Power, and there's no point in Mega Drain as Tangela already learns this as a level up move.
Going over its moves, Tangela learns Absorb, Bind, Stun Spore, Growth, Mega Drain, Vine Whip, Poison Powder, Ancient Power, Knock Off, Giga Drain, Sleep Powder, Slam, Tickle, Power Whip, Ingrain, and Grassy Terrain. It does need to know Ancient Power in order to evolve into Tangrowth, and it can relearn Block.
Next are TMs and TRs, and I will be going over what Tangrowth can learn, it can get Hyper Beam, Giga Impact, Solar Beam, Solar Blade, Reflect, Rock Slide, Thief, Brick Break, Rock Tomb, Bullet Seed, Payback, Power Swap, Bulldoze, Brutal Swing, and Stomping Tantrum, and for TRs, it can learn Swords Dance, Body Slam, Earthquake, Amnesia, Sludge Bomb, Poison Jab, Seed Bomb, Focus Blast, Energy Ball, Leaf Storm, Power Whip, and Grass Knot, and for Tutor moves, it can learn Grassy Glide. As with what it can learn in Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, it can learn Shock Wave, Aerial Ace, Psych Up, and Strength for possible moves.
While Tangela back in Gen 1 was the only pure Grass-type, a lot has changed since then, and while it didn't see high level use back then, when Tangrowth was introduced, it become a solid Grass-type defensive Pokémon, it wasn't that good on the Special side in terms of attacking. For possible moves, Tangrowth can make use of Giga Drain, Knock Off, Sludge Bomb, Earthquake, Brick Break, and many other moves, one set I really liked using with Tangrowth is an Assault Vest set, allowing it to take Special hits better. Tangrowth can even make use of items like Rocky Helmet or Sitrus Berry and have at least some status moves like Sleep Powder or Leech Seed, it has good stats all-around, as it is one of few Pokémon to have base 100 or more in many stats, the exceptions being its low Special Defense and Speed stats.
It's not worth using Tangrowth in Double Battles when Amoonguss can also learn Rage Powder, and while Tangrowth can get Chlorophyll, Venusaur is much better as a Pokémon with Chlorophyll, and there is no point in Leaf Guard, because nearly every Pokémon that has Leaf Guard also gets Chlorophyll.
Going over Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, there is no Assault Vest in that game, because the Assault Vest did not even exist in Gen 4, I don't like the fact they included items that were around in Gen 4, and any item that didn't exist back then aren't even in those games. Leftovers is the item it can make use of, and it can use Giga Drain, Sludge Bomb, and Knock Off for possible moves, and it can use Sleep Powder or Stun Spore to inflict status conditions.
If you are wondering about Eviolite Tangela, it is more of a Pokémon that sees use in the lower tiers, it's not easy to fit Tangela on a team when Tangrowth does much better, and while it has decent Special Attack to make use of Giga Drain and Sludge Bomb, it can make use of Sleep Powder and Leech Seed for status moves, but compared to other Grass-types, Tangela with Eviolite faces competition with many others.
