We get another limited time event, it is live from June 17th till June 19th, and for this event, you can encounter Urshifu in its Gigantamax Form in Max Raid Battles, but you cannot capture them.
Urshifu appear in 5 Star Max Raid Battles, and from what I have seen, Urshifu has Max Knuckle, which likely comes from either Close Combat, Dynamic Punch, or Focus Punch, as those are the Fighting-type moves Urshifu can use, I have seen Max Ooze, which comes from Poison Jab, and it has its signature move, Wicked Blow from Single Strike Urshifu, which becomes G-Max One Blow, and Surging Strikes from Rapid Strike Urshifu, which becomes G-Max Rapid Flow, and these moves ignore Max Guard, and both Urshifu forms know Bulk Up, so you will want to prepare a Fairy-type Special Attacker, this can be great help against the Single Strike Urshifu, which is Fighting/Dark-type, but watch out for Max Ooze if you are using a Fairy-type Pokémon against it.
You do get some good rewards for beating the Urshifu Max Raid Battles, you get all the different coloured Apricorns, a Max Mushroom, a Choice Band, and some Armorite Ore and Dynite Ore, while it is good that you get a Choice Band for free, this could be because Urshifu is one of the best users of the Choice Band.
This isn't the first time we had a Wild Area Event where you couldn't capture the Pokémon that is present in the event, because way back we had Mewtwo in Max Raid Battles which was Level 100, and it was a very difficult opponent, and we had the Zeraora event where if all played defeated Zeraora enough times, they were able to get a Shiny Zeraora through Pokémon HOME, and we had Gigantamax Cinderace in the Max Raid Battles which we couldn't capture, and they did give some good rewards, and now with Urshifu, you can get a Choice Band for defeating an Urshifu in the Max Raid Battles.
With that, almost every Pokémon that has a Gigantamax Form has been featured in Max Raid Battles at least once, well we haven't had Rillaboom or Inteleon as featured Pokémon in Max Raid Battles, I don't know if they will do an event where the Galar Starter Pokémon will be in Max Raid Battles, much like how we had a limited time even with the Alola Starter Pokémon where it was the first time you can catch them in anything other than a Poké Ball.
