It is time to take on the Gym in Motostoke, and see if I can defeat Kabu, as he is considered a roadblock for people taking part in the Gym Challenge due to how tough he is. I have prepared myself for this tough challenge, and if that will be enough to get past Kabu.

As for the rest of the description, I recommend watching the full video before reading past this point of the description

What makes Motostoke Gym special is that you don't battle any trainers, instead you have to score 5 points total, 2 from catching Pokémon, and 1 for defeating them. You can encounter Vulpix, Sizzlipede, and Litwick, and this is the only way to get Vulpix in Shield. All of these Pokémon can have Flash Fire, so they can be helpful in some way against Kabu, but I would recommend having a Water or Rock-type on your team, Carkol and Drednaw are great options for this Gym.
Litwick is a Pokémon that we have not encountered before then, it's quite weak until Level 41 when it evolves into Lampent. If you have a Dusk Stone, you can evolve Lampent into Chandelure right away, and it will have Shadow Ball as a level up move, and Chandelure does get some good TR moves that benefit from that massive Special Attack, like Flamethrower, Energy Ball, and Psychic. A good Pokémon isn't without downsides, even though Litwick might not seem much, your efforts will be rewarded once it is evolved.
Even though you can get Sizzlipede back on Route 3, it was a 1% encounter, here you have an easier way to get it. Sizzlipede evolves at Level 28, and it is a good user of Coil, and later on it can learn Fire Lash, which fun fact was a move in Gen 7, but only Heatmor could learn it, so I am sure there are people that weren't aware of it then, but then again Heatmor is one of those Pokémon that often gets forgotten about, so I can see why. Sizzlipede can also learn Leech Life as a TR move, so if you want to use a Sizzlipede, this is the best place to get one.
When the challenge is complete, it is time to challenge Kabu to a battle, and he is a tough opponent, and compared to Milo and Nessa, he is a challenging foe, here is his team of tough Fire-types.
Ninetales: Will-O-Wisp, Fire Spin, Quick Attack, Ember
Arcanine: Will-O-Wisp, Flame Wheel, Bite, Agility
Centiskorch: Flame Wheel, Coil, Bug Bite, Smokescreen

Kabu has three fully evolved Pokémon on his team, and both Ninetales and Arcanine have Will-O-Wisp, and they can be tough opponents if you are not prepared. There is a twist with Kabu, he will Gigantamax his Centiskorch, the evolved form of Sizzlipede. Any of Centiskorch's Fire-type moves will become G-Max Centiferno, which traps its foe for 4-5 turns, so it is like Fire Spin. Centiskorch is not to be underestimated, because once the Gigantamax wears off, it can use Coil to make it more threatening. A good Rock-type move should be able to take out Centiskorch, and as I have explained before, I will only Dynamax after the opponent, so that way there is a challenge.
After defeating Kabu, he gives the Fire Badge, and we obtain the TM for Will-O-Wisp, which is a nice move to have, as burn can cripple the target's Attack stat.
The challenge is done, and now three Gyms are out of the way, it is time to head off to Hammerlocke, so it is another visit to the Wild Area and explore a place that we have never explored before.
