Pokemon X Hardcore Nuzlocke Guide: Fennekin vs Viola
1I intend to complete a hardcore Nuzlocke of Pokemon X without catching or battling any wild Pokemon in the future. A hardcore nuzlocke has a few rules that most nuzlockes don't. No items in battle and no overleveling the gym leader are the biggest ones. In addition, I won't allow myself to fight any wild Pokemon for experience or as captures. The one exception is Xerneas, which the player is required to catch. (I aim to not use Xerneas during fights if possible, of course.) The Viola fight is surprisingly tough because of Surskit. I'm not sure if it's possible with Froakie, and I doubt that Chespin can take it on. The strategy I used here isn't consistent; this was my second victory in around fifteen tries. (I didn't record the first one.) I will admit, I used PKHeX to give my Fennekin EVs in Special Attack and Speed, and a few in physical Defense (since you can use Super Training) which is how I was able to outspeed the Surskit. Even without Spa EVs, though (and with a Spa-reducing nature) I was able to two-shot Vivillon with Ember on my first victory. I don't think I'll stream this challenge unless I can find a consistent Sycamore strategy, though. I imagine taking on all three Kanto starters with just one Pokemon of my own will NOT be easy.
