Pole Elastics TWO TESTS Stretch Recoilability Testing Hollow Hybrid Compare True Nature Revealed
You will never think of elastics in the same way. These two tests show how anyone can make the two tests and very accurately gather the elastics stretch and just as importantly but over looked quality of recoil-ability. Some describe this as the ability to 'power up' but it is not fitting as it suggests lag or needs extreme force before acting. This is not the case of course so is correctly termed 'recoilabilty'. Some elastics stretch well, but do not recoil well, they stay out what they have gave out, whether this be little or a lot. Other elastics have much more of an ability to return to their original state (recoilability).
The two tests reveal any particular elastics qualities, and you will be shocked! Some Anglers will be removing some elastics that's for sure! Some situations you require a very elastic elastic, buttt, also with a very strong recoil,, soft on the strike, cushions lunges, avoids hook pulls.... buttt does not allow the fish to keep running and running (snags, disturbing swims). Other times you may need NOT desire much elasticity elastic but still have good recoilability... Margin fishing where control of the fish is more important, to guide it away from the margin, platforms, weeds, snags. Other times you may desire extremely low elasticity but with good recoilability such as lakes where big fish could be hooked.
All these properties are revealed and the idea is for Anglers to make their own tests and share the results on a data base so we can all make sure we have the right elastic for the type of fishing we are doing. The current ratings (8-10, 12-14) are not fit for purpose having discovered the characters of elastics and NEW grades have been created.
Note these are available in two groups and the grades are different accordingly.
2 - 2.3mm
Silver fish elastic high elasticity / medium recoilability
F1 elastic high elasticity / high recoilability
Carp elastic low elasticity / very high recoilability
Margin elastic good (not high) elasticity / high recoilability
Big Carp elastic very low elasticity / High recoilability
2.8 - 3mm (no silver fish - Huge Carp added)
F1 elastic high elasticity / high recoilability
Carp elastic low elasticity / very high recoilability
Margin elastic good (not high) elasticity / high recoilability
Big Carp elastic very low elasticity / high recoilability
Huge Carp very low elasticity / medium High recoilability
After watching this video you will learn there is no need to go less than 2mm in diameter.
Obviously they are not designed or matched exclusively for carp.. An angler fishing for big chub or perch for example might choose F1 elastic if open water or carp elastic if snags for example. The video explains the big differences between the grades. NOTE, the grades are carefully selected for the elasticity to recoilability relationship...
DON'T make the mistake of just thinking that they are grades about strength!!!!!
