Practical Polish: Secrets of How to “Juice” Your Game Mechanics in UEFN | Unreal Fest 2023
You used UEFN to build your awesome game. Your game has a cool mechanic, but something is missing. It doesn’t “feel” right. Wait! Before you add more mechanics, art, and content, you may want to “juice” your core game mechanic. But what does that mean? Juicing is the process of applying some emotional design to amplify your game’s feel.
In this session, we‘ll walk you through some practical tips and examples of how to “juice” your game in UEFN. We’ll make things pop by tweaking visuals, adding more punch using audio, and making the game react to the player by using simple animations and logic.
By the end of the session, we’ll have the same game, but it will have evolved into a game that responds to the player’s touch, making them feel powerful and more in control.
