Before we begin, I have a short story to tell about the EGS when I tried to make an account to access the trial.
First of all, seemingly due to the exclusivity deal the demo is also exclusive to the EGS, so I had to register a new account.
Little did I know I already had one... That says I'm from Russia. Well that's a nice first time experience. But without further ado, let's talk about Shenmue 3.

So this is it. This is the Shenmue 3 "Before Anywhere Else*" Backer Trial.
What is there to say? The adventure feels like a modernized version, it looks nice and has a Shenmue feel to it... with some caveats.

First of all, the characters look kind of off. I'd have preferred just higher rendered versions like in the Passport but that's just how it is. Ironically, there wasn't as much of a clash when it comes to the NPCs, due to them being new.

So interestingly they for some reason have decided to include a Stamina System. Yes, a STAMINA SYSTEM.
Long gone are the days of you running around without worries. Now you have to keep Ryo well fed. The moment you run out of Stamina you also are no longer able to run.
Let it be known that this exactly what I disliked about Yakuza and FFXV because it's just an unnecessary addition. It sucks the fun out of traveling and exploration because you always have to be careful about running out of gas.
I know this adds some importance to food and drinking, which was just a fun useless side content in the prior games but there has to be a better way to implement these.
It's a direct sequel because of that it's even harder to bear this change.

Fun fact, woe you if you run into a fight at low Stamina because that very same Stamina is your LIFE BAR.
