Initially announced with a January 2021 release date, the game has faced multiple delays. Over the past four years, the remake has been pushed back time and time again. The title also saw a change in development studios and reports of a complete reboot. Now in development at Ubisoft Montreal, the remake is finally back on schedule, four years after its initial launch date.

The developers said the remake is being handled by a team “that truly cares,” adding that they are putting their hearts into every step of the process. Ubisoft also thanked fans for their continued support and patience.

“Yep, we're still deep in the game — exploring, building, and ensuring the sands move with purpose,” Ubisoft shared via the official Prince of Persia account. “This game is being crafted by a team that truly cares, and they're pouring their hearts (and a lot of coffee) into every step. Thank you for sticking with us.”

Ubisoft also directed fans to try out The Rogue Prince of Persia, the roguelike platformer from Dead Cells developer Evil Empire, which released in early access last year. The game is set for a full launch in August 2025.
